The Protection of Confidential Information Day

For the first time at Military Mechanical Works Joint-Stock Company in Poland, we celebrated the Protection of Confidential Information day which was initiated by the National Association for the Protection of Classified Information. The date of the celebration has been scheduled for 22 January, the anniversary of the enactment in 1999, the first law on the protection of classified information having a fundamental importance to the internal security of the Republic of Poland.

 

On 20 January 2012, the Company held the first academic session, with representatives from ministries, universities, media and leading businesses from across the Poland.

The rationale and genesis of the law on protection of classified information was explained by Thomas Borkowski, Secretary and Director of the College Office for Special Services.

Dr. Sławomir Zalewski from the Department of National Security, Natural and Humanities University in Siedlce spoke about the role of OIN for companies and institutions in the context of the establishment of heads of organizational units and OIN Agents.


Minister Andrzej Lewinski, Deputy Inspector General for Personal Data Protection, described the regulations currently placed on cooperation and information security administrators, OIN Agents in regards to the protection of personal data. The need to develop specialized training for personnel and information security argued: prof. Grazyna Szpor and prof. Leszek Korzeniowski.

Mr. Adam Janik, CEO of WZM S.A. was honoured with the Distinguished KSOIN saber.  KSOIN members were also awarded honorary titles and insignias. They all received commemorative certificates confirming participation in the celebrations of the first Day of the Protection of Confidential Information. There was a string quartet concert performance by Arkados, announced by Stefan Haras, president of the Opera Society of Katowice.

Participants also viewed the Rosomak armoured vehicle, manufactured by WZM S.A. and currently being used by the Polish military mission in Afghanistan.
