History

Rosomak S.A. in Siemianowice Śląskie was established in 1952 as a Military Mechanical Works, having a longterm tradition in repairing, upgrading and producing special equipment for the Army. The Company began activities with repairing vehicles and T-34 tanks. In the 60s, the first T-55 and T-55A tanks came to the Facility. These were repaired and upgraded into the T-55AM version. In 1982 - 1989, Military Mechanical Works participated in a contract for building a T-55 Tank repair base in India. The next stage was connected with the repairing T-72 tanks for the Polish Army. At the same time, the following vehicles were repaired, namely the: WZT-1 and WZT-2 and the BLG bridge builder on the basis of a tank chassis. Apart from tank and vehicle repairs together with their upgrading, Rosomak specialized in the repairs of the internal combustion engines with power output between 100 and 1000 HP, with the following engines types: WOLA, HENSCHEL.

In 1996, upgrading works on the BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance vehicle began. As a result, a whole family of upgraded armored reconnaissance vehicles was generated: from the BRDM-2M96 model through to the BRDM-2M96i, BRBM-2B, BRDM-2BF, BRDM-2A, and BRDM- 2M96iK. In total, more than two hundred vehicles were produced, which have been successfully used in the Polish Army, especially during peace keeping missions. As a result the work carried out has extended the life of these vehicles, which translates into reliability and combat readiness, which have allowed these vehicles to adapt to the requirements of the modern battlefield. In 2002, Rosomak S.A. offer for a fourth generation vehicle was selected as the most advantageous from all the offers presented. The culminating point of entire tender was the signing of an agreement for the delivery of 600 armored wheeled transporters between Rosomak S.A. and the Procurement Department of Armed Forces for the Ministry of National Defense on April 15, 2003.

Between 2007 - 2014 our personel participated in the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, taking responsibility for service and maintenance of AMVs Rosomak. In 2013 a new contract for more than 300 vehicles have been signed and in 2014, considering excellent opinions and product recognizability, the Company changed its name from “Military Mechanical Works JSC” to “Rosomak JSC”.
