The debate over the technical modernization of the Polish armed forces in the perspective of 2022, the implementation of modern technologies in the Polish army and the shape of the Armaments Group ( PGZ) – the most important theme of the conference "The success of Army modernization an opportunity for industry".

WZM S.A. in Siemianowice – one of the most modern armament facilities in Poland – was the setting of the debate, which was attended by, among others, Minister of National Defense Tomasz Siemoniak, Treasury Minister Włodzimierz Karpiński, and former Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek. The meeting was also attended by representatives of government, industrial and scientific communities and it provided an opportunity to debate, among other topics, cooperation of industry and the military.
The conference took place in a specially adapted production hall where the conference participants were welcomed by PO MEP Jerzy Buzek, who was co-host and originator of the meeting.

- Cooperation between industry, academia and the military is the cornerstone of every manufacturer of defense equipment. In the process of designing new military vehicle versions, representatives from each party always attend. In recent years, as a result of opinions and experiences of Polish troops in Afghanistan, WZM has introduced hundreds of design changes to its vehicles. At each stage of vehicle production, military representatives from the District Military unit have an insight into the scope of work, and above all in the handing over of vehicles – said Adam Janik, CEO WZM S.A.

Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak, who opened the conference stressed that in order to succeed, the military must be a partner to the defense industry. – The Ministry of National Defense would prefer firms from the Polish defense industry, but will also be a demanding partner - said the Minister.

An important part of the conference was the unveiling of a new company name and logo, the CEO Mr. Adam Janik said that changing the company name would take advantage of the success achieved and appreciation by Polish troops using the Rosomak. The name is simple and clearly associated with the Siemianowice plant.

- We believe that in this way we will better target our potential customers, especially foreign customers. Not distancing ourselves from tradition, we want to take advantage of modern forms of impact on markets through effective promotion - said the CEO.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the importance in context of the armed forces cooperation with industry, the advanced development of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), aimed at consolidating the company assuming the budget related to the defense industry.

One of the main topics discussed at the conference was the issue of modernization of armed forces. The main premise established by the Government in 2013, the program of technical modernization of Polish armed forces to ensure a higher level of modernization of armament and military equipment.

- We have developed a ten-year program of technical modernization of the army, which foresees investments worth about 130 billion PLN. We must make good use of this opportunity, not only for the Polish army, but also for the competitiveness of the Polish defense industry and development - we read in the letter from the president.

Modernization is directly related to the need for implementation by manufacturers of new technologies. Excellent examples of such activities are the simulators for training vehicle crews. These simulators are part of logistical support of customers, which include: service, training and spare parts. The driver training simulator (Jaskier) and turret simulator (Tasznik), for which WZM received the Presidential award for a product that best serves and raises the level of safety of Polish armed forces, are the modern training devices designed to train wheeled APC crews. Their full capabilities were presented at the conference.
